PEAS schools are run by Africans for Africans.
Our schools and country offices have always been fully staffed and led by Africans. 98% of our global staff are African. PEAS Board of Trustees is majority African and over 50% of our trustees are women.
We are proud of what we have achieved but are taking a deliberate approach to do more.
We do this by taking accountability for our high performance, challenging ourselves and each other to continually improve and support one another.
We employ around 1,000 school staff including teachers, school leaders and school support staff across our two school networks in Uganda and Zambia. In our country offices, we employ around 60 people in roles such as education, quality assurance, safeguarding, MEL, finance, people and culture, advocacy and procurement.
In the UK, we have a small team focused on supporting the teams in Uganda and Zambia with everything from technical to fundraising support.
People and Culture Manager
Job Summary: The role will aim to achieve operational excellence in People and Culture at both office and school level ensuring that we are attracting, recruiting, selecting, retaining the best people and supporting them to deliver exceptional services to the young people we serve. You will be part of a global People and Culture group that includes People and Culture lead in the UK and HR Officer in Zambia. As a group, you will work collaboratively on People and Culture initiatives that can be adopted and adapted in all offices.
Specific responsibilities include but not limited to:
Required Qualifications and Experience
A minimum University degree in Human Resources or Organizational Development and post graduate training in Human Resource. Substantive experience (at least 6 years) in Human Resources, with at least two years of working at strategic leadership level. Detailed up to date knowledge of Uganda’s employment law. Strong level of IT literacy including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Cloud Software such as HRIS and the internet. Experience and knowledge of strategic workforce planning. Experience, knowledge and passion for People and Culture system and processes design and improvement to deliver results.
