The PEAS Uganda team

As well as managing the construction of our school network, our team of experts in Uganda work to ensure the continuous improvement of the PEAS schools under our SmartAid approach. By 2021, the PEAS Uganda team aim to be entirely funded by our school network and income generating activities allowing PEAS UK to redirect fundraising to new countries.
 

Susan Opok

Managing Director

Susan joined PEAS having managed the Acholi Bursary Scheme for the Windle Trust in Northern Uganda. She has extensive experience in international development and post-conflict education.

Joseph Kasujja

Human Resource and Administration Manager

Joseph has over 10 years of experience in HR, having worked with top flight organizations both in the private and NGO sectors as Human Resource and Administration Manager.

Martin Bakama

Director of Finance

Martin is a qualified accountant who works with an accounts clerk to manage PEAS Uganda finances and financially audits all our schools.

Christine Apiot

Interim Senior Director of Educational Excellence

Christine joined PEAS after many years of experience in the education sector. She works with staff in PEAS schools to constantly improve the provision of education.

Robert Tusiime

Director of Project Management

Robert is an experienced engineer who manages the capital infrastructure development projects in Uganda.

Vincent Kizza

Director of Professional Development

Vincent has over 15 years in the secondary school sector. He has done several training consultancies with the Commonwealth of Learning and he has just completed an International Leaders in Education Program (ILEP) fellowship at the University of Kentucky.

Richard Jakait

Associate Director of Finance (Income Generating Activities)

A graduate in Business Administration (Accounts), with a postgraduate certificate in SME management and tax administration, Richard has over six years of experience both as an Accountant and Administrator. He has worked at a senior level as a Finance and Administration manager for Kagodo Feeds and Zion Constructions and as a Managing Director of Affluent Uganda Limited. He joined PEAS in 2011.

Jimmy Muhindo

Associate Director of Finance (Internal Auditing)

Before joining PEAS in March 2011, Jimmy has been extensively involved in both internal and external audit executions with two firms of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda. Jimmy is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors of Uganda/USA (IIA).

Education Consultants

 

Our Education Consultants, all of whom have completed the Teach First programme in the UK, are placed as volunteers in Uganda for one year to support the PEAS Uganda Education Department.

Sarah Moore

After completing the Teach First programme in Manchester, Sarah spent two years as the Scottish Coordinator for the Youth and Philanthropy Initiative, a Citizenship programme for secondary school pupils. She joined PEAS in August 2011 to work as an educational consultant in the Kampala office.

Kieran Cooke

Kieran completed a degree in Civil Engineering with a specialism in water resources at Newcastle University. He then went on to teach maths at a secondary school in Manchester as part of the Teach First programme. He has always had a keen interest in international development and has volunteered with NGO's as a Youth Volunteer.
