PEAS Education Specialist Fellowship Scheme

PEAS exists to expand access to quality secondary education in Africa. We build and run not-for-profit secondary schools in Uganda and Zambia. PEAS now has 32 secondary schools which educate over 15,500 children. We are looking to expand these school networks and to use our experience and expertise to help others run great secondary schools too.

The Fellowship

Our fellowship is an exciting route into the world of international development and education, providing the opportunity to deliver real impact. It exposes top talent from the global education sector to a high-performing education development organisation. You will bring your teaching expertise and work alongside our ambitious and dedicated education teams in Uganda and Zambia to provide technical assistance in delivering interventions across a range of areas.

Fellowship Details

  • 1 year placement based in Uganda or Zambia

  • Hands-on experience working in a high impact role for a cutting-edge education development organisation

  • 1 induction week with PEAS in the UK

  • Compensation includes:

    • Stipend for the duration of the placement

    • Housing is provided

    • Roundtrip air fare to/from country for the placement

    • Any costs associated with filing for a visa

    • Travel insurance

About You

We are looking for adaptable and bright individuals who not only share our values but are excited about the opportunity to help in improving the life chances of young people from low-income families in Uganda and Zambia. To be considered for the fellowship, you must meet the following criteria:

Essential

  • Someone who believes in what we do and is passionate about transforming lives through education

  • Qualified teacher status

  • Demonstrate relevant experience in supporting improvements in educational outcomes at classroom and

    school level

  • Experience of working in a hands-on, changeable working environment

  • Ability to work under minimum supervision

  • Great people skills: able to work effectively across cultures and functions

  • Ability to empower and motivate others

  • Good problem-solving skills: able to get things done and solution focused.

Desirable

  • Master’s degree in education, international development or a related field

  • Experience working in international teams

  • Project management experience
