PEAS Bridge High School opened its doors for the first time on 4th February 2013, and is our first school in the District of Mitoma, which was carved out of Bushenyi District in 2010.

The sub-county of Nyabubare is a five hour drive South-West of Uganda’s capital, Kampala. Research carried out in 2012 revealed that a huge 568 students were completing primary school with no accessible secondary available, which highlights the need for sub-county’s first secondary school.

Nyabubare's challenging terrain is a further obstacle to children hoping to make the transition from primary to secondary school. With 11 feeder primary schools within a 7km radius of the school, the demand for secondary education provision is massive.

Providing a high quality and relevant centre of secondary education within Mitoma District will produce a new generation equipped with the skills to make the most of their environment and exploit the opportunities around them.

PEAS Bridge High School is another product of the partnership between The Costa Foundation and PEAS in Uganda. Construction was completed in January 2013 and our site comprises of an administration block, four-classroom teaching block, dormitory accommodation for boarding students and sanitary facilities.  Where possible, our buildings are constructed using good quality, locally sourced materials.
