Many people want to support a charity but they struggle to think of a way they can raise money. Sophie and Tom Boardman, both of whom work in education, decided that their wedding day would be the perfect opportunity to make a difference.

"We got married in October 2014 and as the date approached, started having real trouble working out what to do about the wedding gift list.

To be honest we didn't really need anything (we already have a flat full to bursting with stuff!) so instead of asking people for duck-shaped gravy boats, decided to use the occasion to support something that really mattered.

We knew about PEAS through university friends who work with and volunteer for the charity, so were already aware of the great work it does. It's also a cause close to our hearts- my husband Tom is a secondary school teacher and I work on education policy, so it seemed like the perfect fit!

We put leaflets about PEAS out during the Reception and our guests were very generous- raising over £1,000 to help the charity build and fit out a new school in Mpigi, Uganda, which is now about to open.

We're really pleased that we decided to create our PEAS wedding gift list- it meant a lot to be able to support such a good cause as part of the day. And the marriage is still going strong!
