For Oxford students that are new to PEAS, we are a charity running 13 sustainable secondary schools in Uganda and Zambia, and we aim to launch ten more this year. Three quarters of children in Uganda are not able to get a secondary education due to a lack of affordable school places. At PEAS we believe that every child should be receive an education, no matter where they are born, and so our mission is create 100,000 places in sustainable secondary education for 100,000 children by 2017. Each school is built by PEAS using funds raised in the UK before running sustainably under its own revenues, and because PEAS schools are built in some of Uganda's poorest communities, they are reaching students that otherwise may have struggled to find it very difficult to continue their education after primary school.
With £25,000 of support from Oxford RAG, PEAS could help build a new three classroom block in one of the schools that we will be opening in February 2013. Because PEAS schools are sustainable, the impact of that funding will be felt long into the future, and help educate thousands of children.
Please support us on Tuesday 21st - Thursday 23rd, and vote for PEAS (Promoting Equality in African Schools). For more information contact Abigail at abigail.colley@peas.org.uk.
