Green Shoots Secondary School

Our newest school opened in February 2010 in Kigorobya, Hoima District,  Uganda

On 2nd February, 2010, Green Shoots Secondary School was officially opened by Local Council Chairman V George Bagonza. The school is situated  in the west of Uganda in the district of Hoima, near Lake Albert. The school serves the town of Kigorobya and the surrounding community.

Green Shoots experienced record enrolment and by the end of the first term had 384 students. Like all our schools, Green Shoots will grow to support a student population of over 1000. The school also employs 20 local people as teachers or support staff.

The school is led by  local Director of Finance and Development, Deo Karakaba and a Director of Education, Simon Okwera. A range of subjects at O-level and A-level will be taught, making the school the first provider of HSC education in Kigorobya.

The name Green Shoots symbolises the hope and growth that a PEAS school brings to an area

This school has been mainly funded by  Ian and Jill Drew, The Derek and Julia Breed Foundation, Alex Letts and Tullow Oil.
