Why PEAS?

Promoting Equality in African Schools is a UK based charity. Our current work focuses on Uganda, where the government's recent provision of Universal Primary Education (UPE) is at risk of being undermined by a huge shortfall of affordable places at secondary level.

With enrolment at Secondary level at under 20%, Uganda needs more affordable secondary schools now

Funds raised by Promoting Equality in African Schools pay for the start-up capital costs of school building projects. This means that PEAS schools have lower running costs and lower fees. Quite simply, PEAS makes quality secondary education available to far more young Ugandans. You can find out more about our current work by visiting our projects.

As well as founding schools, PEAS, in conjunction with London's Teach First programme, uses volunteers to help transfer best practice from UK schools to the newly built schools in Africa.

The first PEAS school has allowed 900 pupils, many of whom are orphaned by AIDS or malaria, the chance of a brighter future. Please help us build more sustainable, low-fee schools by donating today.
